New Orleans, La. (10/8/2023) – The New Orleans Police Department has arrested a woman in connection to a triple shooting in the city’s French Quarter.
Shawnnika Smith is accused of shooting a man several times in the chest on Bourbon Street near Toulouse. It happened on Saturday around 6 a.m.
The unidentified man is listed in critical condition. Investigators say two other people were injured when a stray bullet struck them in the leg.
Smith was later identified as a suspect and arrested. She allegedly had a handgun on her at the time. She is charged with attempted second-degree homicide, aggravated second-degree battery, aggravated assault with a firearm and illegal discharge of a firearm.
