Ball, La. (11/16/2022) – According to Ball Police Department (BPD), on November 15, 2022, at approximately 1:26 pm, BPD officers responded to a person complaining of a gunshot wound at Ball Elementary School.
Upon arrival, BPD Officers contacted the RPSO School Resource Officer (SRO), who had custody of a white male subject with a gunshot wound to the arm.
The SRO stated that the subject came to the school with a gunshot wound and was found armed. The SRO took the subject into custody and recovered a firearm.
From the officer’s investigation, they were able to determine that two individuals, one being a juvenile, were conducting a drug deal in the school parking lot. An altercation occurred where both individuals sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
The juvenile was taken into custody, treated at a local hospital, then released and booked into the Renaissance home for youth. The other suspect remains in the hospital in the custody of officers.
“I would like to commend the officers of the Ball Police Department for their quick response and actions in taking these suspects into custody without any further incident. I would also like to commend the School Resource Officer at Ball Elementary for his quick actions in capturing one of the suspects. I would thank the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this investigation.
