ALEXANDRIA, La. (1/4/2025) – Two arrests made after a large fight in Alexandria have drawn attention to an incident involving a stabbing on Mary Street.
On Thursday, January 2, 2025, at approximately 6:06 PM, the Alexandria Police Department (APD) responded to reports of a large fight in the 100 block of Mary Street. During the altercation, one individual was stabbed and transported to a local hospital for treatment.
APD arrested 31-year-old Tkyea Mason and 40-year-old Howlisha Self, both of Alexandria, in connection with the incident. Mason faces one count of Aggravated Battery, while Self faces one count of Aggravated Second Degree Battery.
This incident comes just a day after reports of a heavy police presence in the same area. Residents expressed frustration and concern, with one commenter stating, “Well, what’s new? Same thing every time, and nothing is ever done.” Another noted, “Yes, they just passed through here about six carloads real slow! Thanks for keeping us informed 🤲🏽.” These remarks have left many wondering if the previous night’s police activity could have helped prevent the fight.
This remains an ongoing investigation. Authorities are encouraging anyone with information about the fight or any other crimes in the Alexandria area to come forward.
