Luling, LA (4/21/2024) – A routine jog turned into a harrowing ordeal for a 17-year-old male in Luling, as he was struck by gunfire from a 50-year-old man engaged in target shooting on the levee.
According to the latest report from the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office (SCPSO), the incident has prompted an escalated police and EMS presence in the 500 Block of Cypress Street.
Eyewitnesses recounted the shocking turn of events, emphasizing that the victim was innocently jogging when he inadvertently crossed paths with the shooter’s line of fire.
The 17-year-old victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, suffered gunshot wounds and was transported to the hospital for emergency medical treatment. Details regarding the severity of his injuries remain undisclosed.
In a reassuring statement, on Facebook law enforcement official of the SCPSO assured the public that the suspect is now in custody, and the area has been secured, eliminating any immediate threat to public safety.
