VERNON PARISH, La. (2/5/2025) – An inappropriate relationship between a teacher and a student led to an arrest.
The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office (VPSO) received a report on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. The Vernon Parish School Board (VPSB) contacted the VPSO. The school board had received information about the alleged relationship earlier that day. They immediately launched an investigation.
During the interview, the employee admitted to the inappropriate relationship. Consequently, the VPSB contacted law enforcement. Detectives went to the school. They escorted John Caleb Howe, 23, of Hineston, to the VPSO.
Howe admitted to detectives that he had engaged in the relationship. The 17-year-old female student attended the school.
Howe was arrested. He faced two counts of Prohibited Sexual Conduct between an Educator and a Student. His bond was set at $150,000.00. Howe posted bond and was released.
