ALEXANDRIA, La. (1/27/2025) – Sheriff Mark Wood held a press conference today at 3:30 p.m. regarding the deputy-involved shooting at Academy Sports and Outdoors.
The incident occurred during an off-duty detail when a deputy attempted to stop an alleged shoplifter, Isaiah La’Ron Treadway, 22.
During the interaction, a physical altercation ensued as Treadway resisted the deputy’s efforts to detain him. The deputy discharged his firearm once, striking the suspect. Immediate medical aid was rendered until ambulance services arrived on the scene. Treadway was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The Central Louisiana Critical Incident Response Team is leading the investigation, with Grant Parish investigators overseeing the case. Sheriff Wood emphasized that the investigation is ongoing. He also encouraged anyone with information about the incident to contact the GPSO at 318-627-2010.
Sheriff Wood expressed his commitment to transparency and thanked the public for their cooperation as investigators work to determine the facts surrounding this deputy-involved shooting.
