Pineville, LA (11/14/2024) – The City of Pineville has announced the retirement of Police Chief Darrell Basco, effective November 17, 2024. Chief Basco has dedicated his career to serving and protecting the community with distinction. The City extends heartfelt gratitude for his many years of leadership and service.
As part of this transition, Deputy Chief Roy Fore will assume the role of Interim Police Chief on November 18, 2024. Deputy Chief Fore, a native of Rapides Parish and a graduate of Alexandria Senior High School, has long been a respected figure in the community. He also pursued college coursework at LSUA, further enhancing his expertise.
Before entering law enforcement, Fore built a career in the medical field, serving as a certified paramedic for over twelve years. He worked with Cenla Ambulance Service, Med Flight, and Acadian Ambulance Service, earning a reputation for dedication and professionalism.
Deputy Chief Fore joined the Pineville Police Department in 1999 and graduated from the Alexandria Regional Police Academy. Starting as a patrolman, he gained valuable experience over four years before moving to the Detective Division in 2003. There, he excelled as a criminal investigator, evidence custodian, and crime scene investigator, eventually earning the rank of Deputy Chief.
A Family Man
A family man, Fore has been married for 26 years and has three children, one of whom is continuing the family’s legacy in law enforcement. His deep community ties and extensive experience in both medical and law enforcement roles make him highly qualified to lead the department during this transition.
Mayor Joe Bishop expressed confidence in Fore’s ability to uphold the high standards set by Chief Basco. The City looks forward to a smooth transition and continued excellence in public safety.
