Alexandria, LA (11/17/2024) – Patrick Heath Cotton was captured by RPSO deputies on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, following a pursuit near Alexandria City Park.
Cotton, who was wanted on multiple charges, was initially spotted driving near 3rd Street and Bogan Street.
Deputies, assisted by Alexandria Police Department officers, pursued Cotton, who led them to Masonic Drive and Gilbert Street. When Cotton’s vehicle became disabled, he attempted to escape on foot. Deputies quickly apprehended him without further incident.
RPSO confirmed that Patrick Heath Cotton will be booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center. The charges and his mugshot are expected to be released tomorrow.
The initial incident occurred on December 8, when deputies responded to a call on Gene Ball Drive about a suspicious vehicle. Deputies identified Cotton, 39, of Pollock, as the driver. While checking for warrants, Cotton fled in his vehicle, sparking a chase.
Cotton exited his vehicle near Lower 3rd Street and fled up a levee, pointing what appeared to be a shotgun at deputies. Law enforcement, including K-9 units, launched an extensive search but did not locate him that day.
Cotton was wanted for theft of a motor vehicle in Grant Parish, with additional charges pending. Deputies are still investigating the scene and caution drivers to avoid the area.
