Metairie, LA (3/12/2023) – A Marksville woman was arrested for allegedly stealing a state trooper cruiser and crashing it a short while later on Saturday, March 11, 2023.
An LSP Trooper was investigating a crash when a woman unrelated to the crash being investigated jumped into the cruiser and sped off. Another trooper and Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office pursued the stolen unit, according to police reports.
State police said the stolen cruiser traveled about a mile and a half before the suspect crashed the cruiser into several vehicles and came to a stop.
Bethany Noelle Holmes of Marksville, Louisiana, was arrested and charged with the following charges:
- Two counts of hit-and-run driving
- Motor vehicle theft greater than $25,000
- Aggravated flight for an officer MV
- Felon carrying an illegal weapon
- Simple criminal damage of less than $1,000
- Reckless operation of a vehicle
- No seat belt in use
- Theft of a firearm
- Aggravated battery
Holmes remains in the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center.
