Alexandria, LA (2/7/2023) – According to Alexandria Police Department (APD), the School Resource Officer (SRO) heard gunshots a few streets away from the school.
APD arrived on scene but hasn’t found anything. The school was locked down per protocol. There is no threat to the school or students.
The Rapides Parish Schools issued the following statement:
Acadian is currently on a lockdown due to gunshots fired in the neighborhoods nearby. APD has been informed and checking area, along with other law enforcement. Once the are has been thoroughly checked, the lockdown will be lifted. All Acadian students, faculty, and staff are safe and the school building is secure from any threat After an all clear has been given, they will lift the lockdown.
