Baton Rouge, LA (6/26/2024) – The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has announced a scheduled drawdown for Iatt Lake in Grant Parish to address the proliferation of giant salvinia and submersed vegetation.
This drawdown will also benefit the lake’s fish population by temporarily increasing the availability of forage fish for predator species and improving spawning habitats.
The LDWF has requested that the Department of Transportation and Development open the water control structure on July 15, 2024. The lake is expected to dewater at a rate of 3 to 4 inches per day until it reaches 6 feet below its normal pool stage. This level will be maintained until October 14th. During the drawdown period, boaters are advised to exercise caution, as many obstructions normally submerged will become hazards.
