LDWF Announces Road Closures at Richard K. Yancey WMA Due to Flooding

LDWF announces road closures at Richard K. Yancey Wildlife Management Area (WMA) due to flooding from rising river levels.

All roads and trails are closed except Shell, Yakey, Wycoff, and Silver Lakes roads, which remain open for now. State highways passing through the WMA are also unaffected and expected to stay open during the flooding.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will inspect and repair damaged roads once the floodwaters recede.

Richard K. Yancey WMA lies 35 miles south of Ferriday, Louisiana, along Highway 15 in Concordia Parish. Known for hunting and fishing opportunities, the area attracts visitors for deer, squirrel, rabbit, waterfowl, and game bird hunting. Flooding from the Red and Mississippi Rivers also supports recreational fishing for bass, bluegill, crappie, and catfish.

LDWF reminds visitors that a valid permit or license is required to access any WMA.
