Lubbock, TX – (2/18/2024) – Keontae Gaines, a standout Junior from Northwestern State University (NSU), has secured his place in the spotlight after clinching the Southland’s Conference Men’s Track Athlete of the Week award for his exceptional performance in the 60-meter dash at a recent event in Lubbock, Texas.
Gaines, known for his lightning-fast speed and agility on the track, delivered a stellar run, hitting a personal best of 6.62 seconds in the 60-meter dash, marking a significant achievement in his athletic career.
Gaines’s journey to success has been marked by dedication and perseverance. Prior to joining NSU, he honed his skills at South Plains Junior College in Texas, where he earned his associate’s degree while competing in track and field. His stellar performance in Lubbock not only reflects his individual talent but also serves as a testament to his unwavering commitment to excellence.
During his time at Alexandria Senior High School, Gaines emerged as a standout athlete, excelling in both track and football. His impressive accolades include winning first place in the state in both the 100 and 200-meter events, as well as securing second place in the state as a member of the 4×100 relay team.
With his remarkable talent and dedication to the sport, Gaines has quickly established himself as a force to be reckoned with on the track.
