ALEXANDRIA, La. (6/1/2026) — NFL wide receiver and former LSU football standout DJ Chark is returning home to make an impact both on and off the field.
The Central Louisiana Human Services District is partnering with Chark and The Chark Family Foundation to host a youth football camp for more than 300 children at Alexandria Senior High School.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, June 27. Family check-in begins at 9 a.m. Camp activities will run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
While football will take center stage, organizers say the event will also focus on mental health awareness and access to support services for youth and families.
At Chark’s request, local organizations will provide information and resources to families throughout the day. Community service providers will have opportunities to set up informational tables and tents during the event.
In addition, guest speakers will address the importance of mental health awareness. They will encourage young people and families to seek support when needed.
Vendor setup will begin at 11:15 a.m. Meanwhile, the award ceremony is scheduled from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Organizers are also preparing grab bags for parents who may not be present during the award ceremony. Local organizations can contribute flyers, small toys, stress-relief items, and other promotional materials. Donations should be delivered to the Caring Choice Clinic by June 19.
The event reflects a growing effort to connect youth with positive opportunities while increasing awareness of available mental health resources.
