Delhi, LA (8/16/2024) – Louisiana State Police are investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting in Delhi. The incident occurred on August 11, 2024, on LA Hwy 17. The shooting resulted in the death of 47-year-old Rodrick Edmond from Delhi.
The initial investigation shows that Delhi Police officers encountered Edmond around 10:00 p.m. He was seen operating a vehicle suspiciously in the police department parking lot. When officers approached, they instructed Edmond to stop. However, Edmond refused and fled in his vehicle. This led to a pursuit that ended on LA Hwy 17.
After stopping his vehicle, Edmond exited with a knife. An altercation ensued between Edmond and the officers. During the confrontation, officers discharged their firearms, striking Edmond. Despite attempts to administer first aid, Edmond died from his injuries at the scene.
