Pineville, LA (10/2/2024) – Agents recently received community complaints about convenience stores selling alcohol to minors in Central Louisiana.
Following these reports, the Rapides Area Drug Enforcement (RADE) Unit launched an investigation into the sale of alcohol to underage individuals.
In collaboration with the Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control (ATC), which oversees alcohol licensing across the state, RADE Agents focused on Amir Food Mart, located at 1610 Melrose Street, Pineville, LA. On September 30, 2024, they conducted an undercover operation using a closely monitored underage individual.
During the operation, the underage person successfully purchased alcohol at Amir Food Mart. Agents immediately seized the evidence and approached the store’s employee, Algahim Mohia Mohamed. The employee was issued a criminal citation for unlawful sales to a person under twenty-one and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The investigation into convenience stores selling alcohol to minors is ongoing. RADE Agents continue to work closely with the ATC and are looking into additional complaints in Rapides Parish. Authorities encourage the public to report any suspicious activity or concerns related to narcotics or illegal alcohol sales.
