UPDATE: Arrest Made in Connection with a Domestic Violence-Related Homicide in the 300 Block of Florence Avenue
Alexandria, LA – January 3, 2025 – 8:45 AM
On Thursday, January 2, 2025, at approximately 9:40 PM, the Alexandria Police Department (APD) responded to a shooting in the 300 block of Florence Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found 35-year-old Andrew Howard of Alexandria, LA, deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.
During the initial investigation, authorities determined the shooting was domestic violence-related, with the suspect identified as Howard’s girlfriend, 25-year-old Diamond Cyriak of Boyce, LA. Cyriak fled the scene following the incident.
With assistance from the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office (RPSO), APD located Cyriak in the 1000 block of MacArthur Drive, where she surrendered peacefully. Cyriak has been charged with one count of Second Degree Murder and is currently in custody.
The Alexandria Police Department extends its gratitude to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Department for their assistance in apprehending the suspect.
This remains an ongoing investigation.

ALEXANDRIA, La. (1/3/2025) – A Boyce woman arrested by APD is facing a second-degree murder charge, according to the Rapides Parish Inmate Inquiry System.
The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Diamond Cyriak of Boyce, Louisiana, was booked on January 3, 2025, at 5:08 a.m. She is currently being held at the Rapides Parish Detention Center 1. No bond has been set at this time.
It is not yet known which major policing incident this arrest is connected to in Alexandria, as two separate incidents were reported to UrbanCast/InvolvedInItAll.com last evening. A request for more information has been submitted to authorities.
As per procedure, all Alexandria Police Department press releases must first receive clearance from the City of Alexandria before being published.
The Boyce woman arrested by APD remains in custody as the investigation continues. Updates will be provided when more information becomes available.
