Body recovered in Buhlow Landing boating incident; ramp remains closed

Pineville, La. (4/20/2026) – Authorities have recovered the body of a missing boater following a weekend incident on the Red River near Buhlow Landing. The recovery happened Monday morning as search efforts resumed.

The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office said crews returned to the water at first light. Around 7:45 a.m. Monday, divers with the Alexandria Fire Department and agents with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries located the body.

The search began late Saturday night after a 911 call reported an overturned boat near the landing. Officials said three people were on board when the boat capsized. Two reached shore safely, while one remained missing.

Rescue teams moved quickly after the call. Multiple agencies joined the effort, including Pineville Police, Pineville Fire, Alexandria Fire, and Natchitoches Parish deputies. Regional emergency medical services and the Red River Waterway Commission also assisted.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is leading the investigation. Officials said they will release more details as the investigation continues. The identity of the deceased has not been released.

The Buhlow Boat Ramp remains closed while crews continue recovery operations involving the vessel. Authorities are asking the public to stay clear of the area.

Officials thanked the public for their patience and support. They also asked for continued prayers for the family affected by the incident.
