Alexandria, LA (2/14/2023) – Often, we forget teachers’ role in our paths to success. Parents, siblings, and family motivate us, but teachers are there just as much along that journey. They introduce us to new things and help expand our minds and horizons.
Tyler Price represents just that for so many theatre students at ASH. Under his leadership and teaching, the theatre program has expanded and become one of the more inclusive clubs at ASH. The students love him, and the audience loves the shows they have put on.
However, with great sadness and disbelief, Mr. Price has decided to chase his dreams and aspirations further, and The Ash Theatre Program is not in those plans.
In Alexandria, we are always mindful of what real talent looks like in the school system regarding what our kids need. We need to do everything in our power to retain Mr. Price’s skill level because of the benefits to our kids. Hopefully, the next leader of the program will continue to multiply and build.
Mr. Price, thank you for lighting the fire, and may you succeed beyond your Imagination!
Facebook Announcement I never thought I would go into teaching so early in my career but the young people in this community really inspired me. I followed God’s calling when he led me to Alexandria and now I am following God’s calling to leave. This will be my last year teaching at ASH. Performing in Colorado over the summer changed my life and changed my perspective on a lot of things. While I LOVE my students and wish I could continue to work with all of them on a daily basis, I have to do what’s right for me. As much as I want to believe ASH Theatre is a professional company, it is not. I need to be in a community where I can feed into all of my passions. This was an incredibly difficult decision and it’s still hard to talk to my students about it but we all know that this is what’s right for me. That being said, I still have some passion projects that I’d love for you all to travel to CENLA to see. AIDA runs March 9th-12th! When we had to replace our March show, I was literally devastated, so I had to chose something that would mean a lot to me and also challenge my students to really think beyond the applause and focus on the storytelling. What better show for us than Aida. Y’all know they are about to tear this score up. MAMMA MIA runs May 4th - 7th! Literally one of the musicals that got me into Musical Theatre and from what I’m seeing, it may be our biggest cast yet! This show is going to feel like a big party from start to end. TROY AWARDS/Senior Farewell is on May 13th. Looking forward to celebrating the last three years on this night. This is a night you don’t want to miss. To my alum, make sure you let me know if you’ll be in town for this night. ****We also have our Advanced Theatre showcase on Wednesday for all of my local peeps. COVID will not defeat us**** I‘m going out the way I came in, STRONG! See y’all at the theatre!!!! -- Tyler Price
