According to APD, Suspected Member of Alexandria’s Unhoused Population Sought in Rapides Regional Medical Plaza Robbery and Stabbing

Alexandria, La. (UrbanCast: 6/24/2026) – A Rapides Regional Medical Plaza robbery and stabbing is under investigation after a victim was attacked early Wednesday morning in the parking lot of the Medical Plaza at Rapides Regional Medical Center.

According to the Alexandria Police Department, officers responded to the 200 block of 4th Street at approximately 5:10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24, after receiving a report of a stabbing.

Investigators determined the victim had been robbed and stabbed in the rear parking lot of the Medical Plaza after exiting a vehicle. The victim was transported for medical treatment and is currently listed in stable condition.

The suspect is described as a Black male wearing a black hoodie, dark-colored pants, and white shoes. According to APD, the suspect fled the scene toward the Bayou Rapides Greenbelt. Police consider the suspect armed and dangerous and said authorities believe he may be a member of Alexandria’s unhoused population.

The investigation remains active, and no arrest has been announced.

Earlier Wednesday, Rapides Regional Medical Center confirmed that an individual was assaulted after exiting a vehicle in the Medical Plaza parking lot on its campus. Hospital officials said they are fully cooperating with the Alexandria Police Department’s investigation but declined to release additional details because the investigation is ongoing.

Increased Its Security

The hospital also announced it has increased its security presence throughout the campus. In a media statement, Rapides Regional said the safety and well-being of its colleagues, physicians, volunteers, patients, and visitors remain its highest priority and that additional measures are being taken to help maintain a safe and secure environment.

UrbanCast first reported the incident Wednesday morning after receiving information about a reported stabbing. The Alexandria Police Department later confirmed the incident involved an armed robbery and stabbing in the Medical Plaza parking lot. At this time, police have not identified the victim or confirmed whether the victim is affiliated with the hospital.
