Jena, LA (4/19/2023) – A Jena High School student died at school on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. The student reportedly experienced a cardiac arrest in a school classroom around 11 am.
School staff and emergency personnel performed CPR and other lifesaving measures before the student was transferred to the LaSalle General Hospital, where the student was pronounced dead.
The investigation into this incident remains ongoing, and the student’s identity has not been released.
The LaSalle Parish Coroner ordered an autopsy.
Authorities ask for caution before sharing any information about the incident that may be false to respect the student’s family.
According to Jena High School’s Facebook Page, LEAP Testing dates have changed to April 25 – May 2.
