Shreveport: Two 19-year-old suspects arrested involving Skating Rink Homicide on Bert Kouns

Shreveport, LA (3/12/2023) – According to the Shreveport Police Department, two 19-year-olds were arrested for the skating rink homicide on Sunday, March 5, 2023.

Tristen Thomas, 19, was arrested and charged with one count of second-degree murder and was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on March 7, 2023. Natoya Dixon, 19, was arrested and charged with one count of second-degree murder and was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on March 8, 2023.

Thomas and Dixon were transferred to the Caddo Correction Center. Thomas’s bond was set to $750,000. Dixon’s bond was set to $500,000. Neither Thomas nor Dixon has any prior arrest records showing in Shreveport.

Tyniece Haley, 18, of Shreveport, was shot and killed following an altercation outside a skating rink just after 8 p.m. According to the Caddo Coroner’s Office, Haley was identified by fingerprints.

On March 5, 2023, officers were called to a shooting in the 5100 Block of Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. As officers arrived, they discovered an 18-year-old female who was deceased from a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased by the Shreveport Fire Department.

Detectives with the Shreveport Police Violent Crimes Unit were called to the scene, and a homicide investigation ensued. It was learned that the victim met several people at the skating rink after the business closed to fight.

The victim engaged in a brief physical altercation with the suspects, and the victim was ultimately shot and killed.

Probable Cause Statements:

  • Tristen Thompson was seen on a surveillance camera exiting a vehicle armed with a handgun. The suspect then approached the victim, firing multiple shots and striking the victim once in the head.
  • Natoya Dixon armed herself with a handgun and arrived at a pre-arranged location to fight. The suspect and her friend got out of the vehicle and engaged in a physical fight with several other people. During the fight, the suspect discharged her weapon multiple times. The victim was fatally shot.

Investigation into this case is ongoing.
