St. Gabriel Police Officer Arrested in Overnight Homicide Investigation; bond set at $275,000 

St. Gabriel, LA (3/2/2023) – Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office reported deputies with the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Arcwood Dr. in Denham Springs about a triggered home alarm.

Upon arrival at the scene, deputies discovered a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds.  The victim died on the scene.

Dylan Martin, 26, of Denham Springs, Louisiana, was identified as the witness by the LPSO.

Andre Redditt, 27, of St. Gabriel, Louisiana, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and obstruction of justice.

During our investigation, detectives learned that suspect Andre Redditt and his partner were estranged.  Redditt entered the home on Arcwood without permission overnight & fired multiple rounds at the victim – a visitor at that home overnight.’

Sheriff Jason Ard says, ‘Reddit left the scene & drove to a Baton Rouge hospital for a stab wound he claims he sustained during the incident.  He was taken into custody by the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office.  He will eventually be transferred to the Livingston Parish Detention Center to face charges.’

Redditt is a Police Officer with the St. Gabriel Police Department.  Chief Kevin Ambeau released the following statement:

‘On March 2, 2023, the St. Gabriel Police Department was made aware of a shooting in Livingston Parish involving off-duty St. Gabriel Police Officer Andre Reddit.  Officer Redditt has been employed with the St. Gabriel Police Department since 07/2018 he left for a brief time and was employed with the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office before returning to the St. Gabriel Police Department 06/2022.  At this time, the department has no comment on the situation, and is not involved in the investigation. Officer Redditt is a full-time employee with the St. Gabriel Police Department and is in good standing.  Upon learning of the shooting, Officer Redditt has been placed on Administrative Leave pending the outcome of Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office Investigation. We are praying for all involved.’
