NATCHITOCHES, La. (UrbanCast: 9/30/2026) — Three Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies are being recognized for their service, professionalism and dedication to the community.
The Sheriff’s Office recently presented its “Excellence of the Quarter” awards during a ceremony at the NPSO Human Resources Office.
Sheriff Stuart Wright presented the awards to Deputy Patricia Dearborne, Cpl. Sloan Dieter and Deputy Communications Specialist Mason Rachal.
Wright praised the three deputies for their performance, professionalism, compassion and dedication to Natchitoches Parish.
“These deputies have gone above and beyond in their duties,” Wright said.
He added that their actions reflect the agency’s standards of professionalism and dedication.
Deputy Patricia Dearborne
Dearborne serves in NPSO Criminal Records/Warrants Operations.
The Sheriff’s Office recognized her for exceptional customer service, professionalism and dedication.
According to NPSO, Dearborne remains calm and courteous during challenging interactions. She also works to ensure difficult situations do not affect the service she provides.
Additionally, the agency praised her attention to detail when processing paperwork.
NPSO described Dearborne as a dependable team member who regularly assists others when needed.
The agency said her work reflects its core values of teamwork and integrity.
Cpl. Sloan Dieter
Dieter serves with the NPSO Drug Enforcement Unit.
NPSO recognized him for his dedication, leadership and commitment to serving the community.
The agency credited Dieter with proactive problem-solving, sound decision-making and effective use of specialized skills.
He also continues professional training to strengthen his knowledge and prepare for new challenges.
Beyond his Drug Enforcement Unit duties, Dieter serves as a drone operator.
He is also a member of the Natchitoches SWAT Unit and NPSO Training Staff.
Deputy Communications Specialist Mason Rachal
Rachal received recognition for her performance, compassion and dedication to public safety.
She has worked in Communications for less than a year. However, NPSO said she has quickly developed skills needed for emergency communications.
Within months of completing CPR training, Rachal successfully guided multiple callers through lifesaving CPR instructions.
During those emergencies, NPSO said Rachal remained composed while clearly communicating instructions and reassuring callers.
The agency described her role during emergencies as the “calm voice in the storm.”
Rachal also regularly helps coworkers manage workloads and responds when additional assistance is needed.
Human Resources Director Kellie Hataway-Carnline praised all three recipients for their work.
“Each recipient has shown tremendous effort and care in their work,” Hataway-Carnline said.
NPSO congratulated Dearborne, Dieter and Rachal while thanking them for their continued service to Natchitoches Parish.
