NEW IBERIA, La. (6/7/2026) — Two people were arrested Saturday night after a shooting in New Iberia left a 39-year-old man dead.
New Iberia Police responded to reports of an active shooting around 9 p.m. on June 6. The incident occurred on Daigre Street near the intersection of Tut Street.
When officers arrived, shots were still being fired. Police quickly secured the scene and detained two individuals.
Investigators said an altercation involving a group of people appears to have escalated into the shooting.
Officers found a 39-year-old man dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the victim’s name.
Police said all individuals involved have been identified. However, investigators have not released additional details about the arrests.
The investigation remains active.
