GULFPORT, Miss. (5/27/2026) — Two people are dead and another person remains in critical condition following a shooting at the Walmart Fuel & Convenience station on Highway 49 in Gulfport.
According to the Gulfport Police Department, officers responded to the 11000 block of Highway 49 around 1:33 p.m. Tuesday after reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found two people dead at the scene. A third victim suffered gunshot wounds and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer identified the victims as 24-year-old Ontario Randle of Moss Point and 29-year-old Shaquari Smith of Gulfport.
Meanwhile, investigators said the shooting was not random. Police stated that Randle, Smith, and the shooter all knew each other.
Authorities have not released the shooter’s identity. In addition, investigators have not announced any charges connected to the case.
