Alexandria, La. (5/26/2026) – The Opelousas Police Department continues investigating a shooting in the 400 block of West Bellevue Street that left one man dead and another critically injured.
According to investigators, two male victims suffered injuries during the incident. One victim later died from his injuries. Authorities have not released his identity at this time.
Meanwhile, the second victim remains in critical condition as detectives continue working the case.
Police said the investigation remains active and ongoing. Detectives are still gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses connected to the shooting.
In addition, officials are asking the public for help as they work to determine what led to the violence.
