Alexandria Petition Signing Event Announced for Louisiana Recall Effort

Alexandria, La. (5/24/2026) – Alexandria will host a petition signing event connected to a Louisiana recall effort, according to materials shared by organizers.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Bringhurst City Park. The park is located at 3016 Masonic Drive in Alexandria.

The materials list the event as “Alexandria – Rapides.” They also name Erin Tracy as the local lead.

Organizers say the event involves recall petitions connected to Governor Jeff Landry and Attorney General Liz Murrill. The campaign also includes a separate East Baton Rouge Parish recall effort involving Mayor-President Sid Edwards.

UrbanCast is reporting the event as a public matter. This article does not endorse or oppose any recall effort.

According to the Louisiana Secretary of State, recall petitions must use an approved form. State law also says signatures must be handwritten. That means online petitions do not replace the official recall process.

The organizers’ materials tell attendees to bring a valid photo ID and proof of voter registration. They also say voters may use the LA Wallet app and Geaux Vote app.

The campaign’s website says any registered Louisiana voter may sign the statewide petitions involving Landry and Murrill. However, only registered voters in East Baton Rouge Parish may sign the Sid Edwards petition.

Organizers say they need more than 600,000 signatures for the statewide recall efforts by November 2026. They also say the Sid Edwards petition needs 50,000 signatures by August 2026.

Secretary of State’s Officee Verifies Recall Petitions

The Secretary of State’s office verifies recall petitions through the state’s legal process. Parish registrars also review signatures after petitions are submitted.

Organizers are asking people to check their voter registration before attending. They also ask attendees to write slowly, follow instructions, and avoid bringing bags.

The promotional materials identify Marian Gbaiwon and KaitlynPatricia Collins as leaders of the effort.

UrbanCast has not independently verified the number of signatures already collected. UrbanCast also has not confirmed whether the named officials plan to respond to the Alexandria event.

The petition signing is one of several locations promoted by organizers across Louisiana. The effort remains in the signature-gathering stage.
