Natchitoches Police investigate fatal shooting on University Parkway

NATCHITOCHES, La. (3/27/2026) — Natchitoches Police have launched a Natchitoches homicide investigation after a deadly shooting early Friday morning.

Officers responded around 2:54 a.m. on March 27, 2026, to the 3800 block of University Parkway after reports of a gunshot victim.

When officers arrived, they found Douglas Roberson, 22, of Coushatta, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers began rendering aid as they waited for additional first responders.

Despite those efforts, the Natchitoches Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced Roberson deceased at the scene.

Investigators secured the area and canvassed for evidence. They spoke with several witnesses and collected both digital and physical evidence.

Authorities will send the evidence to a crime lab for further analysis. The investigation remains ongoing.

Police have not released information about a suspect or motive.

The Natchitoches Police Department also thanked the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office and Northwestern State University Police Department for assisting during the incident.
