Grant Parish Internet Sting Leads to Arrest of Canadian Man

Colfax, LA. (11/25/2025) – A Grant Parish internet sting led to the arrest of a Canadian man this week. The investigation began after Eddy Butler contacted what he believed was a young girl in Grant Parish.

Detectives say Butler communicated over the internet and made plans to travel to Louisiana.

However, he was actually speaking with a Grant Parish detective posing as the child. Moreover, investigators monitored the conversations and identified clear attempts to groom and lure a minor.

Ontario Provincial Police arrested Butler, 35, of Canada. Authorities charged him with five counts of child luring. Additionally, officials noted that Butler intended to travel to Grant Parish to meet the girl.

This case shows how powerful the internet can be. Someone in another country attempted to groom and lure a child for sexual reasons in our community.

Law enforcement agencies say the operation protected a potential victim and demonstrated the importance of proactive investigations.
