Rapides Parish RADE Traffic Stop Nets 5.8 Pounds of Fentanyl — Enough for 1.3 Million Lethal Doses

Boyce, La. (August 23, 2025) — Just after 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025, a K-9 Deputy with the Rapides Area Drug Enforcement (RADE) Unit stopped a vehicle traveling south on Interstate 49 near mile marker 93 for a traffic violation.

The driver was identified as Jermaine Dorsey, 47, of Alexandria, and the passenger as Kyren Kentrell Dixon, 29, also of Alexandria. According to RADE, the deputy immediately smelled burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. When questioned, Dorsey admitted there were illegal narcotics inside and gave verbal consent to search.

The search revealed a small amount of marijuana in the center console and, more critically, approximately 5.8 pounds of fentanyl concealed in a bag on the rear floorboard. Officials emphasized the public danger, noting that this amount equates to more than 1.3 million potential lethal doses if pure.

Both men were arrested without incident and transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center.
