ALEXANDRIA, LA (7/28/2025) – Tanner Harris is a 5th grader at Peabody Montessori in Alexandria. He’s also a proud player for Barnes Academy. Tanner is currently ranked 3rd in his group for Youth Athlete of the Year. The national contest awards the winner a feature in Sports Illustrated, a 3BRAND ad appearance, and a $25,000 prize.
Tanner is more than just a talented athlete. He’s humble, dedicated, and a straight-A student who puts in the extra work, practicing daily on his own without being asked. He’s driven by the challenge of competition, saying, “The tougher the competition is, the bigger the opportunity to grow.”

He credits his coaches and parents for his growth: “My mom and dad dedicate a lot of time to help me develop. They encourage me, believe in my ability, teach me, and pray for me.”
One of Tanner’s most unforgettable moments came when he hit his first home run—just after telling his parents homeruns “happen by accident.” It came in a clutch moment, and Tanner says the feeling was “unexplainable.”
