Glenmora, LA (6/6/2025) – Three individuals have been arrested in connection to the killing of two dogs in Glenmora, Louisiana, following an investigation by the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office (RPSO) into allegations of animal cruelty and official misconduct.
According to RPSO, the incident occurred on May 21, 2025, but was reported four days later on May 25. Detectives determined that the dogs’ owner had temporarily left town and entrusted a neighbor, Shyana Marie Bordelon, 47, with their care. Investigators say Bordelon no longer wanted the responsibility and contacted Glenmora Animal Control, which declined to intervene as the animals were in her care and not abandoned.
Bordelon and her son, Murray Joseph Gros IV, 26, then contacted the Glenmora Police Department, where Officer Steven Matthew Ware, 33, responded. According to detectives, Officer Ware advised that the dogs could be shot. When the pair said they didn’t have a firearm, Officer Ware allegedly returned to the police department, retrieved his personal rifle, and gave it to Gros.
Gros used the weapon to fatally shoot both dogs, then buried them. He later returned the rifle to Officer Ware.
