FRANKLINTON, La. (3/3/2025) – Five injured in Franklin shooting following the Pepe Mardi Gras Parade on Sunday night, authorities confirmed. One victim remains in critical condition.
Franklinton Police said the shooting happened around 7 p.m. near the parade route. Officers and Washington Parish sheriff’s deputies, already stationed in the area, rushed to help the victims until paramedics arrived.
Two victims were treated and released from area hospitals. Two others remain hospitalized in stable but guarded condition. The fifth victim is in critical condition.
Police arrested 18-year-old Jamerian Anders of Franklinton on five counts of attempted first-degree murder. Detectives apprehended him shortly after the incident. During questioning, Anders provided a voluntary statement implicating himself.
Authorities believe the shooting was gang-related. Detectives continue processing evidence, and additional arrests are possible.
Officials confirmed that recent gun-related crimes reported earlier are not connected to the five injured in Franklin shooting investigation.
