Caddo Parish, LA (11/16/2024) – A skydiver was found dead in Caddo Parish after his parachute failed to deploy during a jump in the Gilliam area.
Authorities located the deceased individual around 3:20 PM, roughly two miles from the intended landing zone. The tragic incident is under investigation.
The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office began searching for the skydiver at 1:25 PM on November 16, 2024, after receiving a report from Gilliam Airport. Deputies were informed that the parachute had malfunctioned, leading to the individual’s disappearance. The skydiver was reportedly wearing an orange wingsuit during the jump.
The search effort involved multiple agencies, including the Caddo Sheriff’s Office, Life Air Rescue, North Caddo Medical Center, the Wildlife and Fisheries Department, and the Caddo Fire District. Despite their collaborative efforts, the skydiver was discovered deceased later in the afternoon.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the parachute failure and the events leading up to the incident. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim but confirmed he was an Asian male.
