Baton Rouge, LA (9/30/2024) – A tragic Baton Rouge I-10 shooting took the life of 22-year-old Erik Dorsey in the early hours of Sunday, September 29, 2024.
The incident occurred around 2:50 AM near the 10/12 split, where gunshots were fired at an SUV traveling westbound on I-10. Baton Rouge Police reported that the shots came from a fleeing vehicle.
The SUV, driven by Dorsey, collided with a truck traveling in the same direction after hitting the retaining wall. The SUV then flipped onto its side. EMS pronounced Dorsey dead at the scene from gunshot wounds. Other occupants from both vehicles were transported to a local hospital for crash-related injuries. Dorsey was the only victim with gunshot wounds.
Authorities are still searching for suspects and a motive. The investigation into the Baton Rouge I-10 shooting is ongoing.
