Zachary School Administrator Arrested for Cruelty to Juveniles

Zachary, La. (3/17/2025) – A Zachary school administrator was arrested after turning herself in to the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail on Monday morning. Jail records confirm Kristy Scott Gilpin was booked on a felony charge of cruelty to juveniles.

Authorities set her bond at $25,000, and she was released around noon. The arrest follows an incident at Rollins Place Elementary School, where a 6-year-old girl with a serious dairy allergy was reportedly forced to clean up her own accident.

The child’s mother, Jamisha Augustine, stated her daughter consumed milk at school, triggering severe stomach issues. Despite multiple restroom trips, her teacher eventually denied further access. The child then had an accident in class and was allegedly made to clean herself without gloves before being sent to the principal’s office, where she was scolded.

After learning of the incident, the school’s superintendent apologized and assured the public that the staff involved had been retrained. However, Monday’s arrest suggests authorities are treating the case seriously.

This Zachary school administrator’s arrest raises concerns about disciplinary actions in schools. Parents and community members continue to demand accountability for those responsible.

Authorities have not released further details on the case.
