The Louisiana National Guard’s Youth Challenge Program (YCP) is preparing for its next round of interviews in various locations across the state. This initiative is aimed at recruiting young individuals for the upcoming class starting on August 18, 2024, at Camp Minden. The program is designed to provide education and life skills to youth, setting them on a path toward success.
Key Interview Dates and Locations: Focus on Alexandria
Among the scheduled interview sessions, Alexandria will host two significant events:
- Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 10:00 AM

Eligibility and Application Process
To be eligible for the Youth Challenge Program, applicants must:
- Be at least 16 years old before August 18, 2024.
- Be no older than 18 years old on August 18, 2024.
Interested candidates must complete an online application at www.langycp.com. After submitting the application, a recruiter will contact the applicant to schedule their interview date and time.
Interview Requirements
Applicants must attend the interview with a guardian or adult. The interview process includes a presentation about YCP followed by a one-on-one interview with a YCP counselor.
Educational Pathways
YCP offers two educational pathways:
- Continue working towards a high school diploma at YCP.
- Pursue the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET).
Candidates should consult their school counselors to determine which academic route is best suited for them.
