Woman arrested for impersonating a medical doctor; bond set at $6,000

Allen Parish, LA (1/6/2023) – According to the Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office (APSO), a woman was arrested for impersonating a medical Doctor.

APSO investigated in November and December of 2022 reports of someone posing as a doctor in the Oakdale, LA area.

Information received was that Erica Giles opened a practice and offered services she was not licensed to perform. Giles displayed a post-secondary education diploma from Northwestern State University, stating that Giles was a Doctor of Dermatology. The diploma was determined to be a forgery. It was discovered that not only did Giles not graduate from Northwestern, but Northwestern University offered no such program.

Detectives interviewed patients/victims of Erica Giles, who stated they made payments of over $1,000.00 per patient. Investigators also learned Giles performed on minors. Detectives obtained a search warrant for the business and recovered the fictitious degree and other falsified documentation.

Detectives arrested Giles on the scene, and she was transported to the Allen Parish Jail for booking. Giles was charged with Theft by Fraud and Possession of a Fraudulent Post Secondary Education Degree. Her bond was set at $6,000.
