Winn Parish, LA (9/8/2024) – A tragic one-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 499 claimed the life of a Winnfield man on September 7, 2024.
Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to the scene at approximately 3:45 p.m.
The crash occurred when 34-year-old Dustin M. Pickron, driving a 2016 Dodge Ram 1500, veered off the road. Pickron’s vehicle traveled down an embankment and struck several trees. He was unrestrained at the time and suffered fatal injuries. Emergency responders pronounced him deceased at the scene.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash. Routine toxicology samples have been collected for analysis. Louisiana State Police emphasizes that distracted and inattentive driving remain significant causes of crashes in the state. They urge all motorists to stay alert and focused while driving.
