Winnfield, La. (3/31/2026) – A night of music and dancing at the Winnfield Civic Center ended in chaos early Sunday morning, according to police.
Officers said gunfire broke out around 1:30 a.m. inside the venue. Two individuals are believed to be responsible. The motive remains under investigation.
Panic spread as teenagers rushed to get to safety.
Police said four bystanders were injured during the shooting. All four were transported to Winn Parish Medical Center. Two victims were later airlifted to trauma centers for continued care.
Authorities reported no deaths. One victim remains in critical condition.
Officers activated an emergency response following the shooting. Off-duty officers assisted with crowd control and securing the scene. Deputies from the Winn Parish Sheriff’s Department also responded.
Sheriff McAllister and Chief Deputy Guilliam were present at the scene. Lt. Brian Glenn and Officer Edward Starks are leading the investigation.
Police have not released the victims’ names. They cited respect for the families and the victims’ ages.
The Winnfield Civic Center shooting remains under investigation. Authorities said suspects have been identified, and charges are pending.
