Lake Charles, LA (July 23, 2024) – The National Weather Service has issued an alert for widespread showers and thunderstorms expected each day this week as the region remains beneath a disturbance aloft. Residents should prepare for very heavy rainfall, which can be anticipated in some of these storms.
Weekly Weather Outlook
- Tuesday: High temperatures between 92°F and 98°F are forecasted, with heavy rain likely. There is a 70% to 90% chance of rain. Overnight lows will range from 70°F to 75°F.
- Wednesday: Continued heavy rain with temperatures ranging from 90°F to 95°F. Rain chances increase to 90% to 100%. Nighttime lows will be between 70°F and 75°F.
- Thursday: The region will still experience heavy rain, with temperatures similar to Wednesday, between 90°F and 95°F. Rain chances remain high at 80% to 90%. Lows will drop slightly to between 69°F and 74°F.
- Friday: There will be a slight decrease in rain chances, ranging from 50% to 70%. High temperatures will be between 92°F and 97°F, and lows from 69°F to 74°F.
Excessive Rainfall Outlook
The Weather Prediction Center has issued a Level 2 out of 4 risk for excessive rainfall on both Tuesday and Wednesday. This indicates a slight risk for excessive rainfall that could lead to localized flash flooding. Residents are advised to remain alert and prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions.
Flash Flooding Preparedness
