Franklin, La. (3/22/2025) – Former Washington Parish teacher Darbie Colette Smith was arrested March 21, 2025, on multiple sexual abuse charges involving juveniles.
District Attorney Collin Sims and Franklin Chief of Police Justin Brown announced the arrest following an extensive investigation.
The investigation, which lasted four months, led to charges including eighty counts of pornography involving juveniles. Additionally, Smith faces charges for computer-aided solicitation, indecent behavior, and two counts of carnal knowledge of a juvenile.
As of now, no bond has been set for Smith, reflecting the serious nature of the allegations against her.
The judge responsible for bond considerations has not yet scheduled a hearing.
Authorities emphasized their commitment to pursuing justice. The District Attorney’s Office and Franklin Police Department continue investigating, ensuring thorough prosecution of cases involving sexual abuse of minors.
