Ville Platte man arrested for attempted 2d-degree rape, 2d-degree sexual battery, and impersonating a law officer

Ville Platte, LA (6/1/2023) – The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the arrest of a man suspected of attempted second-degree rape. Second-degree sexual battery and impersonating a law enforcement officer.

On May 1, 2023, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division opened an investigation about a possible attempted sexual assault involving two female victims. During the investigation, it was discovered that the suspect entered the victim’s residence without their permission.

Witnesses indicated that the suspect identified himself as a Law Enforcement Officer at a local bar to gain their trust before the incident. While inside the residence, the suspect forced himself upon the female victims with the intention of performing illegal acts on them. During the incident, the victims were unclothed and were touched inappropriately by the suspect. It was learned that the incident occurred on the night of April 30, 2023, into the morning hours of May 1, 2023.

The suspect was identified as Bobby Lee Trattles II, 29, of Ville Platte. He was later arrested and charged with Two Counts of Attempted Second Degree Rape, Two Counts of Second-Degree Sexual Battery, One Count of Impersonating a Law Enforcement Officer, and One Count of Home Invasion. He is in the Evangeline Parish Jail with a $140,000.00 bond.
