Pineville, LA (8/23/2024) – On Friday, August 23, 2024, a special recognition ceremony was held to honor the memory of RV Edwards, a Vietnam veteran and Pineville High School graduate.
The ceremony took place at the Alexandria National Cemetery on Shamrock Street in Pineville at 9:30 a.m.
Edwards, who graduated from Pineville High School in 1965, was tragically killed in Vietnam on August 23, 1966, just a year after his graduation.
Now, 58 years later, his friends Ken Vonesh and Larry Prestrige worked tirelessly to ensure his sacrifice was remembered.
The ceremony served as a poignant reminder of the many young men who lost their lives during the Vietnam War, with the community coming together to pay tribute to Edwards’ service and dedication. The public gathered to honor the memory of this local hero.
