Vidalia: Man suspected to be an online child predator arrested

Vidalia, LA (8/14/20230 – The Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) reported a man suspected to be a child predator was arrested.

On August 1, 2023, the CPSO Cyber Crime Unit began investigating an adult male who communicated with what he believed to be a minor online for sexual purposes.

The conversations took place on a popular social media platform, at which time the subject transmitted sexually explicit videos of himself, requesting the same in return while engaging in extremely lewd dialogue.

Jonathan Lafield, 27, of Clay, Louisiana, was arrested by the Jackson Parish Sheriff’s Office and charged with computer-aided solicitation of a minor and indecent behavior with juveniles.

Despite his attempt to mask his identity, internet service provider data positively identified him, and an arrest warrant was obtained. The Jackson Parish Sheriff’s Office took him into custody without incident and booked him accordingly.

Sheriff Hedrick would like to remind parents to remember online safety measures regarding their children during this school season and to contact the CPSO for any assistance or questions they may have.
