UrbanCast Updates: Details on Heavy Policing Incident and Arrests in Alexandria

Alexandria, LA (7/5/2024) – Following a significant law enforcement presence near the intersection of Deerfield Lane and Fox Run, UrbanCast has obtained new information from a recent press release issued by the Alexandria Police Department. On the evening of July 4th, the Alexandria Police responded to reports of gunfire in the 2900 block of Fox Run, leading to the arrest of three individuals and the confiscation of three firearms, one of which was stolen.

The individuals arrested include 19-year-old Matthew Snowden and 19-year-old Gary Matthews of Alexandria, along with 20-year-old Jamari Harris from Boyce, LA. Charges against the trio include Discharging a Firearm in the City Limits and Resisting an Officer, with additional charges of Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm against Matthews.

This incident prompted the deployment of over 15 units from the Alexandria Police Department, Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Louisiana State Police, contributing to the heavy police activity witnessed by the community. The Alexandria Police Department has expressed gratitude towards the assisting agencies for their support during the arrests.

UrbanCast had earlier reached out to Michael Caffery, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Alexandria – Mayor’s Office, seeking clarity on the matter due to the initial absence of a public information officer on the scene. This latest press release helps to address the community’s concerns regarding the nature of the police operation and its implications for local safety.
