Update on the Handley Loop Shooting Incident; Suspect Bond set at $250,000

Tioga, LA (2/9/2024) – Further developments have emerged in the investigation of the shooting incident that occurred on January 21, 2024, at Handley Loop. Initial reports of an unknown gunman have been debunked following thorough investigation by Rapides Office Sheriff’s (RPSO) Detectives.

Upon arrival at the scene, Patrol Deputies were informed by the homeowner that a juvenile family member had been shot, though no additional information was provided. Medical personnel confirmed the juvenile victim’s death.

Sheriff’s Detectives, along with Crime Scene Investigators and witness interviews, led to the issuance of warrants for the arrest of multiple individuals present during the incident.

A 15-year-old juvenile has been charged with Negligent Homicide, Obstruction of Justice, and Criminal Conspiracy and is currently detained at Renaissance Home for Youth. Additionally, a 16-year-old juvenile faces charges of Obstruction of Justice and Criminal Conspiracy, having been released with a juvenile citation.

Jamie Marie Mullins, 38, of Pineville, has been charged with Contributing to the Delinquency of Juveniles, Obstruction of Justice, Criminal Conspiracy, and Principal to Negligent Homicide. Mullins was apprehended on February 8th and is presently held at the Rapides Parish Detention Center on a $250,000.00 bond.
