Natchitoches, La. (11/28/2022) – On November 26, 2022, shortly after 11:00 pm, Detectives with the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office (NPSO) Criminal Investigations Bureau were requested by Natchitoches Police Department (NPD) to investigate a homicide by shooting in the City of Natchitoches according to NPSO Sheriff Stuart Wright.
At approximately 10:39 pm, NPD responded to a report of “shots fired” in the Grace and Berry Avenues area in Natchitoches.
Upon arrival, officers found one person lying on the edge of the road suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Another victim suffering from a gunshot wound was transported by private vehicle to a local hospital. His condition was with non-life-threatening injuries.
The shooting resulted in the death of 19-year-old Rodjay Jaheim Stackhouse of Natchitoches, La. Natchitoches Parish Assistant Coroner Steven Clanton pronounced Stackhouse dead at the scene. The body has been transported to Shreveport for an autopsy.
A 20-year-old Natchitoches man suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound was treated at NRMC.
NPSO Detectives were briefed and learned that the suspects in the shooting had fled the scene.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
NPD requested that the NPSO investigate the shooting to protect the investigation’s integrity. One of the victims is related to NPD employees.
NPSO Major Reginald Turner said, “as we continue to investigate recent gun violence and this senseless murder, we ask the community to pull together, provide us with information and help us from a public safety standpoint to solve this case and other unsolved cases in Natchitoches Parish.”
