Alexandria, LA (4/19/2025) — Louisiana State Police Troop E is investigating a deadly crash that claimed the lives of two men early Saturday morning after they fled from a traffic stop attempt in Alexandria.
Around 2:00 a.m., a Trooper observed a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee swerving on MacArthur Drive and attempted a traffic stop for improper lane usage. The vehicle refused to stop and continued westbound on LA Highway 498 (England Drive) at high speed. The pursuit was terminated after the Trooper lost sight of the Jeep.
Approximately 50 minutes later, the vehicle was found down an embankment off England Drive near Powell Lane, partially submerged in a bayou. Inside were 30-year-old Brandon Wright of Pineville and 33-year-old Aaron Watson of Amite. Both men were unrestrained and pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not yet determined who was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash. Routine toxicology results are pending, and the crash remains under investigation with assistance from the Louisiana State Police Force Investigation Unit.
State Police continue to emphasize the risks of high-speed driving, impaired operation, and not wearing seatbelts. While not all crashes are survivable, troopers note that seatbelt use remains one of the most effective ways to reduce fatalities.
